I was unable to receive Round 7 of chemotherapy as scheduled today again due to low blood platelet counts, so we'll try again next Wednesday the 17th. No cause for alarm. An evaluation CT scan was performed as scheduled this morning and we're thankful to share the scan revealed (1) a "slight shrinkage" (3mm) of the primary lung tumor, as well as (2) other known metastatic sites remaining "stable". Although not a large shrinkage ... we'll take it ... every millimeter truly counts in our battle! Per my oncologist Dr. Ellison this is a "victory" since the lung tumor has not grown, other known (lesser) sites remain unchanged and no new sites were
detected by the CT scan. Yeah!!!
Bouncing back from Round 6 of chemo has been the toughest experienced to date. However since we'll be dropping Carboplatin from my chemo regimen beginning next Wednesday due to its toxicity, my oncologist believes the more difficult chemo-related side effects (fatigue, loss of appetite, sore mouth) should diminish. I haven't lost any weight and what little hair I had on my head when we started this journey remains there ... both good things!
Now if I could only get my taste for good red wine (and of course my wife's wonderfully great cookin') back!!!
It was great spending some time with Susan Upcraft (Martha's best friend from Dallas) this past weekend. This was Susan's first visit since we moved south and it was good to just relax and catch up on things. Her visit was especially good and therapeutic for Martha I believe.
We're looking forward to Lindsay's visit next Tuesday. Lindsay will be with us for about two weeks and understandably needs some vacation before getting "back into it" (working at the Mary Cariola Center and continuing graduate studies at SUNY Brockport) this fall. We promise we'll still have plenty of nice "beach weather" for you to enjoy Lindsay!!!
We thank the good Lord for all that He has provided and enabled including this morning's positive CT scan results.
We are also appreciative of all of your continuing positive thoughts and prayers. We can surely feel your support and love!
May God bless you and yours ...
Dan and Martha
