As I sit and look out the kitchen windows on this the last day of 2011, I thought that I might like to share the last few moments of daylight with all of you. The sun should set in about 30 minutes or so and I know that it will be beautiful. I just poured a glass of wine, and I would like to toast all of you. May the joy you share today be less than the joy you share in your tomorrows.
Perhaps I will shed a few tears today.
I should have started out by saying that Dan is doing well. He had his "scan" on Wednesday and there is no change or activity in the tumor in his lung, or any where else. His blood counts were very good and this is all Great news. His hair, his weight and his smile are all the same as your remember! So things are good, we will keep riding the winning horse as long as possible. He has however had a terrible head cold and cough for way to many weeks now. This is zapping his energy and his appetite. I am hoping that he will be over it soon, as he has now given me the cold. I just hope that I will not return it to him and he will start to feel better soon.
As with all of you, it has been a very busy month of December. As Dan mentioned my friend Karen from American Airlines in Hartford CT, came for a much to short of a visit. It was wonderful walking the beach with her, dining downtown and just catching up. I can't wait for her to return, perhaps in the Spring.
We drove to Savannah GA (2.5 hours away)to have a wonderful visit and lunch with Bonnie and Jack Brodie, Andrea and Michael Chochul, Dan, my mom and I, at Lady and Sons, Paula Dean's Restraunt. It was so much fun, and we talked about all of you!!!!
As Dan mentioned I catered a wedding for Megan and Phillip. I think that it all turned out well, and I was so lucky to have my mom (as always) my cousin Paul his wife (Yvonne) my dear friend Linda from Rochester, her son Andrew, who just graduated from the College of Charleston (the day of the wedding) all here to help me. To spite how busy we were, at the end of the day we walked the beach, Linda got her time in the "big" shower, and we were able to sit and enjoy the gift of friendship. Dan, Derek and Carrie had a wonderful time in Tampa at the Buccaneer's Football game and shared just great memories together (next time I get to go). Stefanie, Aaron and Julie went to Rochester (Julie went to a friends wedding) enjoyed some Jack Jack time, and savored being in Wegmans. I even got a Wegmans white cake with white frosting when they returned. This was all the same week-end!!!!
Then it was get it all put away, because it was Christmas week. Lindsay and Jobe arrived Christmas Eve with Bubba (black pug puppy) Jobe's first visit to Edisto, Stefanie and Aaron came with an air mattress (yes,we built a house with only one guestroom) - we all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Eve service at Edisto Beach Baptist Church, we went Wassilling on the Beach, used Jobe's awesome smart phone and saw Jupiter and Venus (who knew) and even went Christmas Caroling to a wonderful new friends home, did I mention Santa was golfing at 4PM. Julie arrived at 11:30, the house was calm and Christmas was in full swing. My mom, Paul and Yvonne rounded out our crew on Christmas Day, we only wished that Derek, Carrie and Jack could have been here to share it with us. It was all to soon that Lindsay and Jobe packed up and headed back to Rochester, I think that Bubba wanted to stay, as he loved the beach. It was so wonderful to be in our new home this Christmas. We both just love it here and can't believe that it took so long to get here.
Dan just got up from a much needed nap, and I think that I will go and spend the evening enjoying a movie and dinner with my wonderful husband as we celebrate all that we have and all that we are thankful for. I hope that this New Year will bring much joy, happiness, health and love to all of you. And may God make all of your days better.
We wish you well,
M
