Simply a spectacular (winter's?) day here on Edisto ... bright sunshine, crystal clear blue sky and 78 warm degrees! The golf course has been quite busy this morning. Martha and I again send our warm greetings from Edisto!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YA'LL ... Wow, hard to believe it's 2013 already. Martha and I hope all is well with you and yours as we begin another voyage around our sun! We celebrated the New Year per usual enjoying some lobster, king crab and steak right here at 612 King Cotton Road. Didn't stay awake long enough to watch the ball drop on TV in NYC however. ll is peaceful and calm here on Edisto this time of year.
CHEMO ROUND 30 ... my blood work was good this past Wednesday, January 9th so chemotherapy round 30
was received as scheduled. As expected the chemo beat me up a bit with just the usual, expected side effects
of fatigue, flushing and hiccups. My appetite hasn't been the best which I know is frustrating to Martha
since she so loves to cook. She's really enjoying her new coastal blue Le Creuset pot which Santa brought her on
Christmas! Not sure this pot will ever see the inside of a kitchen cabinet however as it seems to sit on her
cook top most of the time! Mouth sores from the chemo and my ONJ (osteonecrosis of the jaw) issue unfortunately make to tough to enjoy really "good" food and wine. Still enjoying that "MacDouble, small order of fries and vanilla shake" right after chemo however ... my reward? Today is day 3 post chemo so thankfully I'm beginning to feel a bit of positive "bounce back" which is good.
NINE MORE DAYS BEFORE "JACK" (AND HIS PARENTS) ARRIVE ... but who's counting! We're so looking forward to grandson Jack's upcoming visit. Fortunately we've been able to "FaceTime" with Derek, Carrie and Jack weekly. This Apple technology is so very good and helpful in keeping up with our kids and grandkids.
Jack received his very own carry-on bag with wheels this Christmas and we were able to watch him demonstrate how a toddler can tote his little travel bag. So very cute! We're going to have a lot of fun celebrating Christmas (part 2) with Jack, Derek and Carrie. We're even going to have Jack all to our ourselves one night while Derek and Carrie enjoy a well deserved overnight in Charleston!
We wish each of you and your families good health, peace, joy, and happiness in the New Year and always.
God Bless You All ...
Dan and Martha
