This morning we started the 4th of July walking the beautiful streets of downtown Charleston .It is just wonderful to spend this July in historic Charleston. We were walking along the battery and could see Fort Sumter off to our right and the USS Yorktown to our left and a nice breeze was keeping it just slightly not terribly hot. Now the baby back ribs are in the oven waiting to finish on the grill, coleslaw and potato salad are chillin' in the fridge and I know there is a cold bottle of wine in there also. Grandy has almost finished making the annual 4th of July cake. Julie will join Dan, Grandy and me (sorry that Stefanie has to work) for dinner and then we are all off to see the fireworks over the Cooper River with Charleston in the background. We hope that all of you are also enjoying this wonderful holiday and we all take a minute or two and remember how fortunate we are to live in a country that is free, and those that have kept it that way.
With Dan's birthday (the one that gets him Social Security)this week we have planned a special trip. We are going to fly to Rochester to take Baby Jack to the Zoo! !!!! We can't wait - We are going to be staying with Derek and Carrie and look forward to seeing Lindsay and Jobe everyday. It is funny to plan a trip back to where you lived for all or most of you life - there are a few highlights (other than people) we want to see, no snow, Wegmans, not needing the garmin for every turn, and the thermometer not saying 98!!!
We wish you all a great holiday and hope
