Dan's chemo was postponed this week, due to a higher functioning liver than normal. This can be very normal and has given Dan the week off. Chemo 25 should be next Thursday now. We heard great words from Dr. Ellison yesterday - like, Dan you are at the top of your class (fighting this Cancer)! He had told us at the beginning that he would be at the top, in the middle or at the bottom of the class fighting stag 4 non smokers lung cancer. Those of you who knew Dan during grade school and or college -- knew he would be at the top of his class! Dr. Ellison feels that Dan is doing great and might plan a few chemo holidays - instead of every 3 weeks he might be able to go 4 to 5 weeks instead, which might improve his overall quality of everyday life, Dan is often very tired and does not enjoy wine or food! We are very encouraged by Dr. Ellison's honest and sincere words.
The weather has turned and it is just beautiful here - the humidity and hot air have left! That just leaves us with bright blue skies and sunshine. We have be gardening a little and enjoying a few walks on the beach. This is truly the best time of the year on Edisto.
As for everyone else in the sunny south, Stefanie and Aaron are looking forward to the arrival of baby MacDonald. They wanted to be surprised if it is a boy or girl (Stefanie says it has to be one or the other). I was fortunate that they invited me to the ultra sound on Monday, however, baby had it's back to us and was sitting straight upright! Aaron was not able to "see" anything. The baby is in a breech position, and we all pray, as Stefanie does some interesting exercises that baby turns over this week. They are due between the 12-19 of October. My dear friends, here in the south have planned a baby shower for this Sunday. I can't wait, it should be a lot of fun. Stefanie and Aaron are also moving next week - just crazy, but it is a beautiful home they are going to be renting right on the water (I think it is part of the inter-coastal waterway).
Julie is also getting ready to move to West Ashley and is planning to live with her boyfriend Justin. We are excited for her, as she will be able to spend more time with Justin , be closer to Grandy, Stefanie and Aaron and closer to us. I am not sure her cats are going to enjoying becoming indoor cats. Perhaps Darjeeling can give them some pointers. She is enjoying working at Charleston Place, I am saving my money to go to dinner there!
My mom seems to be enjoying her neighborhood, her church and some new friends. She is volunteering at the hospital and singing in her church choir. She is staying busy and enjoys seeing us on football days as well a lunch when we head in the "city".
As for the Northern bunch - they helped surprise Mom Strahan for her 80 something birthday - I won't says what number it was, as she looks so good. Karen and Dick invited them all down for dinner and I understand that Jack was the star of the day! Lindsay seems to be busy at school, even though it is challenging, we know that her student are lucky to have her. I love all the new technology (although it was Julie's) we were able to "facetime" with Derek on Sunday and enjoyed our, much often one sided visit with Jack. Derek is busy at work and will be traveling to Dallas this weekend to entertain clients at the Cowboys and Tampa Bay game. Let's all hope that Tampa wins (his boss owns them)! We did not get to see Carrie, she was at sewing class - but we know she is busy at work and at home with Jack. Who I must say is adorable.
This was to be a short note - oh well - I hope you are up to date with all of our news.
We pray that you are well and finding time to enjoy your family and your friends. Life is a blessing and we all should be making it the best we can, everyday! We love you all and look forward to hearing from you soon.
