It was a beautiful day here on Edisto, bright blue skies, 76 degrees and a perfect clam ocean. For those of you who have visited the "beach" here on Edisto, (and for those who have not yet visited, we can't wait to share it with you) we left the driveway turned left, rode thru the front gate, turned right out to beach access 14, parked the "bike", walked a bit and got back on the "bike" and rode past Bay Point and back thru the front gate and pulled into the driveway again here at 612 King Cotton Road. I think that we toured about 3 -4 miles. The "bike" is a green tandum bicycle we moved from Churchville ( I don't think we ever rode it much). The egrets were so pretty and snowy white, turtles on the logs over the lagons just as black as night, and the sweet grasses are in full bloom in a perfect shade of mauve. The colors are so much richer here. The moon was rising over the palms outside our bathroom window as we soaked fatigued muscles in the Jacuzzi tub with a glass of wine. Perfect ending to a great day.
I am sure that you can tell from my note so far, Dan is feeling a litte better today. It is two weeks after Chemo and some of the day to day things that we have told you about before start to lessen and he is able to pilot the tandum around the island, he thinks that I am not peddling, but I am. So , we are able to enjoy being outside and this great weather.
We have really been un-packing and trying to learn where all the light switches are. The house has really turned into our home now, and not just the dream we were building. Finding things that we (with a lot of help) packed has felt like Christmas Day or Aprils Fools Day. Dan still can't believe we moved 13,000 pounds of things we couldn't live without and now don't know where to put them. However, we can eat on a different set of dishes, easily for a week - you can tell I'm home. There have been worker bees here almost everday, I can't begin to tell you how polite and friendly everyone is. I think that everyone is done with the little start up issues as Dan calls them. Yes, Don and Marti, you can now sleep with the blinds closed!!! Darjeeling has really adjusted well to his new home, finding his pan behind his door, and finding boxes to hide in. He loves all the sunshine.
Susan and Don are due to arrive on Friday afternoon and we can't wait to spend the week-end with tunafish on the beach, Sunday football, a few bottles of wine and I think just remembering our previous vacations on Edisto. Stefanie and Julie will arrive for Sunday fun as well. It should be a great "family" week-end. We are looking forward to seeing my brother Steven who is visiting during my mom's birthday week, won't say how old she is, but some of you might have remembered her birthday party Nine years ago! Boy that was a fun night, anyone want pizza? .
We can't believe that Jack is going to be a year old in just a few short days. I know that Derek and Carrie are planing a fabulous birthday celebration. He is such a precious little baby (boy) and has great parents. We will so miss seeing him on his special day, but we know he will have a great birthday.
