Martha's recent blog pretty much gets you up-to-date on our progress so my blog this time will be brief.
Chemo round 10 went well this past Wednesday (October 26th) after a week's delay (I think I had a stomach bug so Dr. Ellison gave me an extra week to recuperate before administering chemo this time ... no biggie). Thankfully my CT scan last week showed "no growth/no change" in my cancer so the chemo appears to continue to do its job. No growth "is a victory" relative to the type of non-smoker's lung cancer we're battling. Although I lost 6 pounds since last month's checkup, I believe my weight loss was due to my stomach bug, not my cancer. My appetite has thankfully returned and I'm even able to enjoy a nice glass of wine in the evening ... a healthy sign for those who know me for sure!
We so enjoyed grandson "Jack's" (and his parents Derek's and Carrie's) visit the first week in October! Jack is eleven months old now and very mobile. It was great to see his many charming smiles and see him crawl for us for the first time. Although we weren't in the new house we enjoyed spending quality family time together and touring many interesting Charleston area sights. What a wonderful city we live near ... and recently voted as the #1 tourist destination in the U.S.A.! If you haven't already done so you simply need to visit this special part
of our country.
Again our thanks to Don and Marti Burdick who made a special trip to Edisto last week to help us with the "move-in" process. Marti helped Martha unpack, organize and put away a plethora of kitchen items while Don assembled my new workbench and battery operated lawnmower ... yes, cordless, battery operated push mower ... not very much grass to mow on our little third of an acre lot ... a welcome change from the Churchville ranch! I'm glad Don had the opportunity to play a round of golf at The Plantation Course here on Edisto. It was especially enjoyable to ride the cart with him and meet up with the girls as we approached the 10th green in front of the new house!
Football this Sunday for the very first time at 612 King Cotton Road ... GO BILLS! The big screens and DirecTV are working fine and I'm sure we'll have some great food to go along with the Bills vs Redskins game ... might simply be some Zweigle hots and hamburgers assuming Julie and I get the new Weber grill assembled and working
tomorrow!
We truly are blessed and can feel all your positive energy and prayers down here. Looking forward
to ya'll coming on down for an Edisto visit! Be safe and may God bless ...
Dan and Martha
