displaying new vibrant green leaf growth and the magnolia trees have budded and should explode soon with their beautiful showy white flowers. The alligators are becoming very active now and loving the lagoons and ponds inside our Wyndham Ocean Ridge resort. We're hearing Buffalo might receive up to 8-inches of snow off of Lake Erie this weekend ... hopefully not but if this storm materializes Don Burdick will finally get the chance to put his new snow blower to good use in Dunkirk!
I received chemotherapy round 18 on Wednesday (April 18th) in Charleston as scheduled with just the expected side effects (fatigue, flushing and a bout with hiccups). Unfortunately I've been experiencing a fair amount of jaw pain over the past three weeks associated with my "osteonecrosis" of the jaw issue (a known negative side effect affecting just 3% of the population taking the bone enhancing drug XGEVA). My oncologist (Dr. David Ellison) is a bit concerned with this issue now but believes we need to give it more time to hopefully heal itself prior to committing to an invasive oral surgery procedure. Dr. Ellison prescribed a new antibiotic for me to take over the next 14 days which perhaps will aid the body's natural healing process. I'm taking a pain killer every six hours to manage the jaw pain which helps some. Thankfully I still have what little hair I had on my head when we started chemo 13 months ago now ... and I've only lost six pounds in weight which is good!
Martha and I are looking forward to celebrating her birthday (April 29th) in Puerto Nuevo, Mexico (about 15 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta). We're leaving this coming Friday (April 27th) and will enjoy a week of R&R at the Grand Mayan timeshare resort. We've never been to the Puerto Vallarta section of Mexico so this will be "new turf" for us to explore.
Also looking forward to flying back to Rochester the weekend of May 12th to celebrate Lindsay's graduation from Brockport with her Master's Degree. Yeah ... way to go Lindsay!
Once again we're sending our best and may God continue to bless you and yours ...
