Well I will try to send out an update from the chemo room. Since I llast wrote, Dan finished IV nutrition and we headed home for a few days of rest and got ready for our dear friends the Carlton's to arrive. My friend Tim Cox and his family stopped in for a days visit with us on the beach, oh did we have fun. Also Dan's mouth sores healed and he was able to eat and possibly enjoy food again. We had a few fun days with the Carlton's and then headed into Charleston for chemo. That turned into a two night stay at Roper St Francis hospital. They put in a chest tube and drained fluid and air again, I know it may sound like a simple procedure, as I only used one sentence. But it was long and the outcome only gave us 50% usage of the left lung, that is about all we are ever going to get. Some thing we can manage, but may need a little extra help with. Tomorrow we will meet with a specialist and see if we can't find a more permanent solution. Today we are restarting chemo (he has been off for two weeks)so we will pray for no mouth sores, an appetite and less fatigue.
Stefanie and Capers came down to visit with the Carlton's and then help get ready for Lindsay's arrival Saturday night, Julie came down around 10pm to have a sister visit. It turned out to be the best timing ever. Darjeeling as you know turned 18 in June and was just starting to get really tired, I kept telling him "not this week" as I didn't have time, so he waited until they were all together before he decided to go to Kitty heaven. I know that we will all miss him very much. Dan has asked for no surprise kitties as he and I will pick out the next one together.
WeI can't begin to thank all of you for your support, from meals, to visits, to phone calls and emails. For those that mow the lawn, dug the spot under the front oak tree for Darjeeling, my mom and the girls vacuuming, doing laundry and Derek and Carrie keeping us up to date and Jack with pictures and FaceTime. And little miss Capers and all of her smiles. We love you all. These are only a few off the great things you have done, our hearts are so full of thanksgiving. As for Dr Ellision and his team, countless nurses (many of them are great friends) there are no words.
Hug everyone you love a little tighter today for
