Greetings dear friends and family from Edisto Island! Hope all is well with you and yours. Beautiful weather here on Edisto with temps in the mid to high 70s, sunny Carolina blue sky, and no bugs! Magnolia trees are now approaching full bloom with their beautiful plate sized creamy white flowers. We're simply loving living in the low country!
I received chemotherapy round 19 on Tuesday (May 8th) in Charleston as scheduled with again just the expected side effects (fatigue, flushing and a bout with hiccups). My labs were all good and the treatment went smoothly this session. Thankfully my jaw pain (osteonecrosis of the jaw) has diminished a good amount over the past few days and making it easier to tolerate. We're seeing an oral surgeon in Rochester tomorrow May 10th to obtain a second opinion relative to this issue.
Martha and I enjoyed a great trip to Nuevo Vallarta last week to celebrate her 54th birthday. Perfect weather, fantastic timeshare facility and lots of R&R. Our resort complex (The Grand Mayan) was the largest we've ever experienced ... truly a Mexican mega resort. While our oceanfront condo was spectacular, the resort was just too big to our liking. This was our very first trip to Puerto Vallarta and we've definitely decided Cabo San Lucas is our preferred Mexican vacation destination. Upon our return to Charleston Martha's old stomach problem (major acid reflux/gerd) reoccurred unfortunately. Thankfully we were back in the U.S. and not Mexico when this flared up. We spent 3 hours in the Roper St. Francis Hospital emergency department and to make a long story short, it appears Martha needs another endoscopy to "stretch" the tissue opening leading from her esophagus to her stomach. This is the same procedure performed less than a year ago in Charleston to resolve her gerd issue. Her endoscopy is scheduled for Thursday, May 17th.
Flying to Rochester tomorrow to celebrate Lindsay's 29th birthday (May 9th), her graduation from Brockport with her Master's Degree (May 12th), and Mother's Day (May 13th). An exciting few days ahead with our Rochester family and friends. Grandson Jack (and his parents) has agreed to put us up at his place in Pittsford! We plan to return to Edisto on Monday, May 14th. We'll need to pack for our next trip (an Alaskan cruise) leaving on June 8th.
"Go while you can" ... it's just what my oncologist ordered!
Once again we're sending our best and may God continue to bless
you and yours ...
