We left on June 5 and Flew to Anchorage Alaska (confirmed seats on American) were we stayed overnight so we would be able to catch our Alaskan cruise on the Sapphire Princess. We cruised southbound to Vancouver (this would be the last day we saw the sun for a week). This trip has been on our "bucket list" for a very long time. The ship was recently "updated" and it was very pretty. We sailed Saturday for two days before entering Glacier Bay, to see the wonders of "calfing" - where large pieces of the glacier would come off and crash into the Bay. The glacier moves down hill about 7 feet per day. It was beautiful, but it was very cold and very overcast. After we left from the glacier we continued southbound to Scagway, were we took the beautiful railway up into the mountains - it was an amazing day trip, to think that the gold rush took so many fortune hunters up this trail was incredible. The next day we arrived in Juno where we flew by Helicopter up to the Mendenhall Glacier and walked on it, was just truly inspirational. I am happy to say that I remember when my mom and dad did the same trip up to the Glacier and I remember what a great day they had, it was a very special memory for me. Dan and I just loved it and the shoes you get to wear were so fashionable too! It was so very amazing and the color of glacier blue is stamped in our memory, we both are sure that we will never see any color so vivid again! It truly was the highlight of the whole trip! Dan had the window seat and got a few really great pictures. The next day we arrived in Katchican where Derek, Carrie Jack and Lindsay and Jobe had given Dan for Father's Day and Birthday a Salmon fishing trip. He did not go, it was SO COLD and the salmon were not yet running (one of many side effects Dan experiences with this Cancer is that he is always COLD). The gift was wonderful and so thoughtful, but he didn't feel like he would enjoy it as bitter cold and overcast as it was. He did use the gift and was able to put it toward the helicopter trip - which was so wonderful and so meaningful. A gift he will never forget!. After that we continued south to Vancouver - were it was warmer however raining. We are happy to have crossed off Alaska from our list and we headed much further south and flew to yes, CABO again. It was a wonderful week of 87 degrees, beautiful blue skies and relaxing by the pool - a great way to warm up. The G20 was being held in CABO this year and that was crazy - a story for another day. Must go shower now and start this long day.
Just wanted to say Hi and let you all know a little bit about our trip - I will try to get pictures posted in the next day or so - and will get a Dan update out soon also.
We know that all of your prayers and thoughts are with us today, we love you all!
